Does it work? A broad review of comprehensive wellness programs showed, on average:

  • 28% improvement in sick leave and absenteeism
  • 26% improvement in healthcare costs
  • 30% improvement in worker’s compensation and disability management claims
  • 6-to-1 cost benefit ratio

A 2002 survey of North Dakota businesses revealed that 80% believe in benefits of worksite wellness programs, but need assistance & direction. Healthy North Dakota responded to this need by facilitating the training of nearly 40 consultants by the Cooper Institute of Dallas, Texas. Healthy North Dakota is working to establish a centralized program to make the consultants and their programs available across the state to assist businesses in implementation of worksite health promotion programs.
